This is a quick, painless laser therapy for open angle glaucoma which can be done repeatedly. The selective laser improves the flow of the fluid in the eye which in turn lowers the intraocular pressure. A side effect could be transient increase in the intraocular pressure which is controlled with medications.The procedure is safe because the SLT laser uses low level energy and causes no thermal damage to the structures of the chamber angle.
